Georgia 811’s mascot Digger Dog and Education Administrator Maria Copeland missed visiting your school last year! This Spring, Ms. Maria and Digger will travel throughout Georgia to drop off educational materials directly to your front office staff to distribute to 2nd and 3rd graders. Drop-off procedures will follow your School Board’s requirements with regards to masking, social distancing, and hand sanitizing; and drop-offs can be done outside of the school building. If you would like to share educational resources with your students, please contact Maria Copeland at mcopeland@Georgia811.com or 770-757-6467.

April is Safe Digging Month! Once again Georgia 811 will be providing an opportunity to sponsor your UCC luncheon. UCCs can earn a safe digging month credit by:

  • Securing a safe digging month proclamation through their local cities, counties, or fire departments.
  • UCC members can have their company add the safe digging partner logo to their website homepage or bill pay site for the month of April.
  • UCC members can have their company use the Georgia 811 Facebook banner as their Facebook cover photo for the month of April

Georgia 811 will award $250 towards a UCC lunch for UCCs earning two credits, and $500 to a UCC earning four credits. This is a great way to plan ahead for when meetings resume later this year.  Lunch winners will be announced at the Georgia 811 Annual meeting. For proclamation tips and templates, please visit the Georgia 811 Safe Digging Month page. To receive your credit, please email Fiona Bowen at Media@Georgia811.com.
