End of Support for PRIS Telnet Protocol

Duluth, GA – July 26th, 2012 – Please be advised that Georgia 811’s Lifecycle for the PRIS Telnet protocol will come to an end on December 31, 2012. At that time, GA811 will no longer support the telnet protocol as a means to respond to Locate Request Notifications (tickets).

 

GA811 is ending support for telnet due to the age of the technology, security concerns, and the difficulty of maintenance. It will be replaced with the Web Services (XML) protocol.

 

GA811 Members or contract locate companies who currently use telnet to respond to Locate Requests (tickets) must transition away by the December 31,2012. This will not affect Members or Locators who use the EDEN web site, phone, or mobile app to respond to tickets.
